Gaining 100% completion is no small task, but some of these requirements are met by doing other requirements. With our guide, you’ll know what you need to track and what you can ignore.
Missions and Events
- Missions – There are 107 main story missions. Just finish the main story line 'n you’ll be good here.
- Strangers – You need to complete 10 Stranger encounters. Some encounters are a one-and-done while others have multiple stages to complete the encounter. Stranger encounters will be indicated by a white cloud and question mark.
- Bounties – Collect 5 Bounties via their wanted posters. Note: if you see criminal activity, you can hogtie the individual and take them to the police for a small reward, but these do not count towards the 5 Bounties.
- Chance Encounters – Have 25 Chance Encounters. These are indicated by a white dot on your mini-map and you must interact with them to count. Some individuals can provide you with multiple encounters. This is not a difficult task to complete, there are plenty of opportunities.
- Bushwhacked – Survive 1 Gang Ambush, you can either fight or flee to complete this. The most common places to experience an ambush are bridges or intersections just outside of towns on the main roads. You will likely complete this by the end of chapter 2, just so long as you don’t travel with train or stagecoach everywhere.
- Gang Hideouts – Capture a hideout from each of the 6 gangs. There are only 4 gangs, each with a single hideout, available before the Epilogue begins. Two additional gangs then become available in the Epilogue. These gangs can have have multiple hideout locations. You know you’ve found a hideout when the gang has more than 4 or 5 members stationed there.
Collectables
- Points of Interest – Find just one. If you follow the Early Access Gold guide, the third location is also the interest point 'Strange Statues Cave'.
- Graves – There are 9 graves to find. Even though you can find some graves before the Epilogue, and all of them after the Epilogue starts, it is suggested you complete the 107 main story line Missions before looking for the graves; there are no markers put on the map or placed in your journal letting you know which grave sites you have visited.
- Cigarette Card Sets – Collect 1 Cigarette Card Set. There are 12 cards in each set and there are 12 sets available to find. All cards can be found laying about, but if you have the inventory space to pick up Premium Cigarettes, you will gain a card from that, too. Note: Cards gained via Premium Cigarettes have a weighted random outcome. Although you can find a card you already have, you have a higher chance of getting a card you do not have. As such, if you are going for all 12 card sets, I recommend that you do not trade in any of your card sets until you complete them all; you will have an easier time getting the last few missing cards as a result.
- Dinosaur Bones – There are 30 bones, 22 of them available pre-epologue.
- Legendary Fish – You can find 13 different Legendary Fish, 10 of them are available pre-epologue. Some of the fish can re-spawn after a while, so here’s a list: Bluegill, Bullhead Catfish, Chain Pickerel, Longnose Gar, Muskie, Perch, Smallmouth bass, Sockeye Salmon, Steelhead Trout, Sturgeon, Largemouth Bass, Redfin Pickerel, Rock Bass. Unlike the Legendary Animals, all Legendary Fish must be caught and delivered.
- Exotics – Complete the 5 request lists given by Algernon Wasp. This is tied for the single most difficult requirement for achieving the 100% and it’s difficultly is due to the quantities requested. Any weapon may be used as the quality of the animal from which the Plumes are gathered has no bearing on the plume itself. It is recommended to complete this prior to the Epilogue, but it can be completed at any time.
- Rock Carvings – There are 10 Rock Carvings in all. It is recommended to complete this prior to the Epilogue, but it can be completed at any time.
- Hunting Requests – Complete the 5 request lists given by Ms. L Hobbs’s. This is tied for the single most difficult requirement for achieving the 100% and it’s difficultly is due to the requirement of all carcasses being in perfect condition. The first hunting list is from a poster found in train stations, whereas the rest are received via mail. The first 4 requests can be completed at any time, but the last can only be completed once the Epilogue has begun.
- Treasure Hunter – Complete 1 Treasure Hunt. Landmarks of Riches Treasure Hunt is the most profitable Treasure Hunt but the Jack Hall Gang Treasure Hunt might be the easiest.
- Dreamcatchers – There are 20 Dreamcatchers. After finding the last Dreamcatcher, you can then find the Ancient Arrowhead.

To avoid multiple attending, it is recommended to see the show only after both of the mentioned missions have been completed.

The Herbalist Challenge 3 has you craft with Sage, you can craft both Tonics and Horse Care Items. The Herbalist Challenge 8 has you craft with Oleander, you can craft both Hunting Items and Weapons. Then, simply cook some plain meat and craft a single Split Point.
